This loom is 19" x 15" x 3" and creates approximately a 15"x 12" place-mat. It has 132 to pegs all the way around and can be used both as a weaving loom using 36 pegs on the long sides and 28 pegs on the short. (Do not use the black pegs when weaving) It can also be used to create afghans and other looming projects by using the black pegs. You can create place-mats using cotton looms by Harrisville Designs Using chains of 3 7" loops and 2 ten" loops. Or weave with any kind of yarn or even cut up t-shirts.

Awesome loom

The placemat weaving/afghan loom is awesome! I have been using it to make placemats for our new home, and find the loom to be well-made. The pegs do not pop out and are long enough that the loops do not pop off. The video instructions online were crystal clear. I am loving my new craft!

Loom Knit ePattern: Jumbo Jumper Shrug Wrap

FUN TO MAKE

I am enjoying making this shrug for a Christmas gift this year. The ahrug is well written and fun to make.

This loom is the perfect size and gauge to make a 10-stitch baby blanket with bulky (#5) yarn, I own other looms in this gauge, but they're round--fine for hats or scarves, but awkward for making blankets.

Afraid of Fine Gauge Looms?

I am an elderly knitter with hands that don’t always do what I tell them. Larger gauge knitting looms mean fewer dropped stitches. But I love the look of projects done in a finer gauge. I took a chance and bought this loom to make a full size Afghan for my husband. For this Christmas. Madness! I had to start over a couple of times because I couldn’t fix a mistake. But lesson learned. In this age of instant gratification, I realized that a slower, more measured pace eliminated dropped stitches. And that I was a much more relaxed knitter. I’m 20 mistake free inches into the 70 inches for this project. I love the way it looks and feels. Sometimes it’s nice (and good for me) to ease up and enjoy the process. I’m very happy I bought this loom and am having this experience.
