This pattern by Joanna Brandt gets it name because there are stitches and row repeats that involve the number 3 in this pattern to create a beautiful textured hat. Loom: Uses the Adult Small Fine Gauge 3/8" 72 peg loom for head circumferences 21-23” and the Adult Fine Gauge 3/8" 80 peg for 23-26”. Can be adapted to other looms as well with peg multiples of 4.

Sizes: Teen-Large Adult Yarn: 110-150 yards total of worsted weight or aran yarn (#4) is needed. You may use 2 colors or 1. Sample uses Darice Silky Soft with brim done using autumn red and the body in autumn taupe. Pattern Details: Pattern is suited for the intermediate loom knitter and features detailed written instructions, step by step explanation of stitch sequences, and video links to help with certain stitch techniques that are used in the pattern. Stitches incorporated in this pattern include ewrap, purl, yarn over (YO), purl 3 together (p3tog) and a stitch that is worked 3 times in one (K1,P1,K1) in same stitch.

Horizontal Rib.

I am making a larger blanket than the pattern calls for. The pattern is easy to follow and adjust. I decided to use the Afgans Diamond for my scrap yarns and that is working very well but I want to buy some new yarn for the Horizontal Rib so decided to wait for awhile.

Large Oval Loom.

I have purchased numerous looms from Cindiwood and other companies. While I love all my looms, I really think this is my favorite. My 2 dogs love it because they can still sit on my lap on my recliner with me while I work on the new project I am making with this loom. I love the 7/16th gauge because it really makes the stitches look more uniform and it is easier to use a 4 weight yarn. Right now I am dividing my scrap yarns between this and one of my Cindiwood S looms to make a couple of scrapgans. I am just trying to figure out stitch repeats for a couple of the afgan patterns I downloaded to be able to make bigger blankets with them.
