ePattern: Toasty Toes Socks on 36 peg
Available as a downloadable PDF Keep your feet and toes warm and toasty with these socks made by Joanna Brandt on the CinDWood 36 peg 3/8" Adult Small/Youth Glove & Sock loom and roughly 170-200 yards of worsted weight yarn (sample uses less than 1 ball of cascade pacific multi in color flame). *These socks make an amazing pair of winter socks to wear with boots or for lighter weight socks you can use dk or sport weight with stretch(#2 or #3). The yarn used for the pattern is important as it needs to be able to stretch and offer elasticity. Wool or wool blends are best for making socks or yarn blends which have lycra or polyurethane. See this article for more information on yarn choices for socks http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEfall08/FEATsocks102.html Tension is also important for proper fitting socks. As you work the yarn across pegs don't yank it or pull it tight. This is a great pattern for both those experienced and beginning with loom knitting socks. Pattern includes detailed written instructions for each section of the sock including row by row instructions and video tutorial for heel and toe shaping. Techniques used include uwrap knit, purl, and wrapping and turning pegs. Pattern includes helpful websites and tips for creating a perfect fitting sock based on shoe size as well as links for various methods to help with binding off your socks. Finished size is 8” circumference and fit average us women’s sock size 9-11. Can be made to fit smaller or larger shoe/foot size by following notes in pattern.
